Love these DIY posts from Re-Nest.  Repurposing and general ingenuity is what they’re all about!
I’ll use the iPhone stand and EVERONE, at some point, will want to know the best way to remove a broken lightbulb.  But the phone speaker… it’s just brilliant:

I think maybe part of the reason you’re so angry is you keep demanding that you get screwed and then, not surprisingly, …

The Aptly Named ‘YAY Scale’!

Here’s a fun new idea:

For the low price of $39.99 I could get 221 lbs worth of compliments every morning     It appears to be velvet-lined.

heh heh heh

This is pretty much the what I’ve heard from folks who’ve seen this movie.  Personally I won’t be wasting my money.
Speaking of money: Avatar is being ridiculously reported to as a possible contender for the highest grossing movie EVER… (current champion being Titanic)  Lets break that down a bit, shall we?

Average cost of a movie ticket in 1997, when Titanic was released: $4.59
Average cost of a 3D movie ticket in 2009, Avatar’s release date: $9.50
Production cost for Titanic (again in 1997): $200Million
Production cost for Avatar: $280Million

This is really a no-brainer.  …

Skipped a couple months…  I hate that, too.  On to the passing on of links!
Wikileaks: “we will release over half a million 9/11 intercepts”
Starting at 3AM Eastern time on Wednesday, Wikileaks plans to publish over half a million US national text pager intercepts related to 9/11. The messages are said to come from devices used by persons operating in an official capacity (including Pentagon and NYPD), and cover a 24 hour period surrounding the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.

Random Quotes & Cleaning Out My Notes

“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I’m not sure about the universe.”   -Albert Einstein
“It doesn’t happen all at once,” said the Skin Horse. “You become. It takes a long time. That’s why it doesn’t happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don’t …

The Flatshare Fridge
What a cool idea.  Thought I’d share:

You can put the “Don’t Eat Me!” and “This Is Not Yours!” notes away for now. Stefan Buchberger, a design student at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna (my childhood home!) has designed the Flatshare Fridge — a fridge made of up individual, stackable units so that each person gets his or her own refrigerator space. We’re seriously wondering why this hasn’t been developed before. Just think how many roommate …

I Gotta Put This Somewhere

Time to clean out my the page in OneNote where I keep all my random things. It’s gotten out of control and I must keep these things SOMEWHERE….
Mortality by Numbers

3 – The number of acne related deaths recorded in Mexico.
162 – The number of deaths by a fall involving a chair recorded in the United States.
8 – The number of flatulence related deaths recorded in Egypt.
2004 – The year these stats were compiled.

I find this quote to be quite true:
If the automobile had followed the same development cycle as …

Kitchen Tips

One of my favorite-favorite tips is about bacon. After my ex-husband moved out there would have been no way in heck I could have used an entire pound of bacon with just me and the kids. So the idea is to freeze the bacon in a way that you are still able to separate single servings (whatever the amount) from the frozen block.
Originally, I would lay all the strips out on a cookie sheet lined with waxed paper. Then dump them all in a ziplock bag once …

Distaste is in the Eye of the Beholder

We went to Sea World’s Aquatica this past weekend for Michael’s 7th birthday.
I learned quite a while ago that some people just do not own mirrors and some may also be with out working lights in their homes. I know this because men leave the house wearing Speedos and 300lb women leave with their string bikinis clutched tightly in their sausage fingers with intentions of wearing it in public. Both of these sights are just a fact of life in Central Florida. Just part of the scenery. …

New Flavors

Chris- What is that?
Me- It’s doggie-ice cream.
Chris- Doggie ice cream… It looks like vanilla.
Me- Kinda. Doesn’t seem to come in other flavors.
Chris- What flavor ice cream would a dog like? Rabbit? Steak?
Me- He seems to like the taste of his own butt.
Chris- (chuckles) It’s Ass-Cream…
